Along the route of the St. Patrick's Day parade held in Pearl River on Sunday, March 18th, His Eminence, Timothy Cardinal Dolan, Archbishop of New York, riding in a red vintage Chevrolet Chevelle convertible along the parade route, blesses seven-year old Ciara Sweeney of Pearl River. Ciara's mother, Kristen, blows the Cardinal a warming kiss. The Cardinal accepted the invitation to attend the annual parade sponsored by the Rockland County Ancient Order of Hibernians. It was it's fiftieth annual parade and attended by an estimated 80,000 to 100,000 people. They enthusiastically greeted him and were delighted the Cardinal attended the parade. The Pearl River parade is the second-largest in the state. Msgr. Edward J. Weber, Vicar of Rockland and Pastor of St. Francis of Assisi in West Nyack rode in the car along the parade route with the Cardinal.
